When life feels too heavy, the brain’s circuits for courage can dim. Ampa helps turn them back on—so you can rediscover strength, clarity, and balance.
Inside the scienceIt’s simple, safe, and effective
Magnetic stimulation has over two decades of clinical and scientific research supporting its safe use and application. It is considered a safe procedure with the most common side effects being relatively mild and transient. The most important safety information is provided below. Please consult your doctor for additional safety information.
TMS Therapy is well tolerated for most. However, not all patients are appropriate candidates for TMS Therapy. For example, patients with a history of seizures or who have metal implants or objects in or near their head are not appropriate candidates for TMS Therapy. To determine if TMS Therapy may be right for you, your supervising doctor or psychiatrist will carefully screen for the presence of medical conditions or metal objects which may make TMS unsuitable.
A typical TMS session lasts between 3 minutes and 20 minutes, depending on the protocol your provider will prescribe. Conventionally, TMS is delivered once daily. However, some newer protocols may offer multiple sessions per day, to complete the course in fewer visits.
You can feel a tapping sensation on your scalp which a patient recently described as feeling like a woodpecker. Your practitioner won’t increase the power of the treatment until you’re comfortable with the feeling of the magnetic pulses.
Minor scalp pain, headache and burning sensation in the area of stimulation are the most commonly reported side effects during and after TMS treatment. However, these side effects are transient and will usually resolve immediately or within the first week of therapy. In rare cases, seizures may occur, but the risk is very low (less than 0.1% per patient) when treatment is performed according to the safety recommendations for TMS therapy. The Ampa One System creates a magnetic field that could cause metal objects near the stimulation coil to move or get hot. Patients with non–removable magnetic-sensitive metals or metallic devices implanted in their head or in body parts near the stimulation may not receive therapy with the Ampa One System.
TMS Therapy is covered by most insurance companies, including Premera Blue Cross, Regence, Cigna, BCBS, United Healthcare, Humana, Aetna, TriCare, and the VA to name a few. If your insurance provider is not presently covering TMS and you would like assistance in securing coverage, contact your TMS provider to determine benefits and help you negotiate with your insurance provider for reimbursement, on a case-by-case basis.
